Uttar Pradesh Tourism in collaboration with FICCI organized the Uttar Pradesh Travel Mart from 25th– 27th February, 2017, this year, in the City of Nawabs – Lucknow. The mart envisioned promotion of Uttar Pradesh as a leading tourist destination by highlighting the amazing Heritage of the heartland of India – Uttar Pradesh – including its rich wildlife, adventure, architectural and Buddhist Heritage. The event began with an amazing cultural eve and ended up with some progressive relations made.
Travel Mart 2017 was organized at Ramada Plaza, Lucknow. Around 50 top of the line Foreign Tour Operators from across the world attended pre-scheduled, structured b2b meetings with the sellers of tourism products of Uttar Pradesh. Along with them, 10 leading Domestic Tour Operators across India also joined the mart.
Apart from some esteemed guests, there were many national and foreign delegates present to convene the discussions around opportunities of travel & tourism in Uttar Pradesh. They discussed about the new avenues of Travel industry in the state, exchanging the views on how UP Tourism is growing at an evidently progressive rate and will continue doing so with same pace, if the government consistently plan and implement a solid roadmap to work on. A lot of foreign and domestic travel operators talked about joining hands for their future ventures in the State and attracting more and more tourists. Delegates from various parts of the world were felicitated as well. Also a number of prominent domestic faces in the Travel industry were present in the event.
Here are the highlights and the timeline of events:
Day I: The eve of inauguration
UP Travel Mart was inaugurated on the evening on 25th February 2017. Inaugural lamps were lit by Mr. Navneet Sehgal, Principal Secretary & D.G. UP tourism. The event then was followed by a series of cultural programs and performances by local and national talents. The day marked its end with a gala dinner hosted by Ramada Plaza Hotel.
Day II: Convening meetings
This day was specifically scheduled for B2B meetings between Indian sellers and foreign buyers from across the world and leading Domestic Tour Operators from across India.
It started with the registration process where pre‐registered exhibitors/sellers and buyers deposited the fee and collected their entry badges and goodies.
Further during the day, several B2B meetings were held between registered buyers and sellers at the sellers’ booths. It continued post lunch as well. At the end of the day, Buyers and Indian sellers had to submit the B2B forms at the B2B counter.
DAY 3: The closing day full of rigorous meets & exchange of ideas
Day 3 was in continuation with day 2. It was a busy day with meetings being taken further from yesterday and went on for the entire day.
By the end of the day, Buyers and Indian sellers submitted the B2B form for day 3 at the B2B counter. Foreign buyers got refund of their deposited amount.
All in all it was a well-organized eventful 3 days where Domestic and international buyers and sellers met at a common platform and discovered new horizons of their fields. They saw endless opportunities and developed more interest to invest in State in Tourism and supporting industries. Special mention to the event host for keeping it well planned and the artists who entertained everyone with their talents. Food served was also very delicious and lip smacking.
Surely, if the government and private organizations keep coming together to work on such events and further work on the blueprints made during the meets, UP shall soon become one of the prominent faces in the Map of Tourism and Travel Industry in India.
The UPTM 2017 concluded leaving behind new openings for tourism in the State, memories worth cherishing for and a wait for the next travel mart.
